Forgive me if I make a mistake or say something stupid here, I try not to offend.
I had a thought about everyone's favorite DoomCrotch while chatting and writing a fanfic snippet, specifically, about the powers she gained from her vampire marks with JC and/or the tri with the Frenchy Pussy, as well as something about Jean-Claude himself. Now, correct me if I'm wrong on this:
Anita became infected with the ardeur when JC gave her the marks, and these marks also bind her to him, with the result being that the death of herself (*snerk*) or Jean-Claude would kill or injure the other.
Since we know Laurell would never kill her darling skanky necromancer, my thought was about what if Jean-Claude was killed. We already know that Anita will sadly likely survive whatever happens to her, if Anita lived and Frenchy died, would the marks given to her be removed, along with whatever vampire powers she got from (shagging) him, especially the ardeur? Imagine if she no longer had the ardeur, in the hands of a better writer, she'd have to face up to the fact that she sexes up all those men because she wants to, not because some incubus power makes her need it to survive. More likely, though, it wouldn't even occur to her that she might not have the ardeur anymore, then she tries to sex up her men...
Meanwhile, on Jean-Claude, I wondered something about him since (I think) he seems to have now become the founder of his own bloodline. If Jean-Claude, or any other 'fount' vampire, where to be killed or died after becoming the founder of a bloodline, what would happen to the vampires descended from them?
I apologize if any of thiis has been covered in the books, but frankly, this comm is populated by braver souls than I in recalling or referencing book material, and much thanks to any explanation or speculation :D

It would probably turn out that because Anita is SOOOOOOO MUCH MORE POWERFULZ than anyone else and has so many wow-nobody-else-has-that Suebilities, that now she generates the ardeur herself! And if JC were to expire, I suspect that Laurita would magically become a sourde herself.

Cuz she's that speshul, got it? She's got vampire servants and a dozen animals to call and a dozen inner animals and supernecropowers and succubus vampire powers, as well as becoming the center of a religion. So becoming head of her own bloodline is about the only thing left. You know, besides becoming Queen of the world, then a goddess.

Not that I think JC will ever die. He's the man (and I use that term loosely) that Laurita desperately wants to be, and thus he appeals to her narcissism. It's the reason why, even though he's basically been sidelined, he's still considered her main "sweetie."

Re: your second question, I seem to recall that LKH retconned this or something, and said that in fact some vampires DO NOT die when their sourde does. Isn't that what was up with Legolas and Aragorn... I mean "Truth and Wicked, the Gawth Clones of Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortensen"?

Who wants to take a guess that will be Anita's next power (creating her own Vampires while still being mortal)?

In a humorous way, she could create vamp-sues that are just as special and wonderful as she is until they destroy their leader.

Jean-Claude can never die, because he's a named character who's appeared in more than one of the books, and that makes him one of LKH's darling babies.

And because the dissolving of the marks is the only reason Anita can keep gleefully dragging Richard back in.

And because he's had sex with Whorenita.

Anita "lost" the marks early in the series, didn't she? She lost all the extra powers that went with them, too. Of course, it's an open question how much of her power actually comes from JC.

Given that Anita's power must increase with each book (don't know why, "it's just a rule"), I imagine JC's death (not that Laurell will ever actually kill him, even though she bloody well should) would lead to Anita absorbing all of JC's power though her uber-necromancy and thus becoming Mistress of the City (yeah, in every sense of the word) even though she's not a vamp. She would angst about her lost humanity and go on to take JC's seat on the Council and keep Belle Morte as a sex slave.

If Jean-Claude, or any other 'fount' vampire, where to be killed or died after becoming the founder of a bloodline, what would happen to the vampires descended from them?

That one has been answered in the books. Vampires who are not "master" vamps are supposed to die when their master does. But their master can be someone other than the soudre de sang (did I spell that right?) of their line and although "the little vampires" are all supposed to die, there have been exceptions, like Wicked and Truth who survived killing their own master.

And then went on to defeat Sauron and battle for the freedom of Gondor and... wait, wait, wrong story.

And I always wondered: why Richard didn't get the ardeur? He's marked by JC. It's implied that sometime in the past they could have sex with each other... so why not RAZ?

I would gladly take a hunky werewolf getting some in the name of peace and democracy - compared to sleazy sleaze Anita getting some in the name of... well, love *LOL*? XD

Remember Richard is a tad homophobic so I doubt that he & JC had "sex" per se. He may have gotten hard when JC bit him but it's never gone beyond that as far as I can remember.

well, as i remember, in the beginning he was fairly relaxed sitting in JC's bed and all - and they didn't have to have sex per se I guess, they're already connected by the marks, and if Richard can pick up Anita's anger, why can't he pick up the ardeur from JC?

Just my weird thoughts^^"

[MAJOR BLOOD BORE SPOILER] Richard actually got the ardeur... in Blood Noir... I think. For how long I don't know, but I fear the sex-scapades of Anita and her band of merry men are about to get even more... frequent... with more orgies. And Richard, now needing to feed himself will be finally assimilated by the matrix and become a pod person, a yes-man, a prideless fool with no "cojones" a proper boyfriend for a Anita. [/END SPOILERS]

I would KILL to see RAZ and Anita fight using the ardeur - she has the magic Silver Cooch, but he can turn into Hulk...err, he has the penii - and we all know how Anita loves those^^ Who would outsex who?!

[MAJOR BLOOD BORE SPOILER] Apparently, Anita would still win the gold medal in the "I'll-shag-everything-that-moves" category because Richard is such an idiot that his ardUer is centered only on Anita... which means he only wants to have sex with Anita (still) and wants her all to himself (still), but now he has "teh magic powa of rainbow vampire sex" on his side. There is a bit of a power struggle in BN between the two of them as Anita tries to fight off his ardUer. But I doubt any character will ever dispute Laurita's power... :p

Of course Laurell will use Richard's obsession to his disavantage by making him try to bespell Anita into sleeping with him (he already tried it in BN, so I'm pretty sure it will be a regular occurence... at least once every book from now on). Now the troos will really hate him, 'cause he wants Anita all to himself and he will be trying to make her have sex with him against her will, WOE! Like Anita hasn't been behaving like that for the last 6 books... :p [/end SPOILERS]

Gasp! What a monster he is! taking someone against their will, of ourse Anita would never do something that horrible...lol, those books are getting better and better><

Wow, BN seems to have everything I want, but... well, LKH style-_-

Thanks for the info^^

That explains it! Anita sleeps with all those men not to protect them from anything in the book, but to protect them from being killed by the author! It's almost like she knows she's a character in a book...

The thing is... books with a lot of characters are boring and confusing. If Laurell was a decent author, she'd understand that. Readers can't keep track of so many lead characters, especially because they will most certainly not be well developed and interesting individuals.
So kill them all, I say. My ideal ending would be Dolph and his team exterminating every vampire, werewolf, wereswan, wererat, weresnake, weretiger, werehyena, werelion, wereant, werebee, werecoyote, wereduck, werechicken, etc, etc along with Anita Blake. All with the help of Edward the new hero of the series... who has sworn a vow of chastity. Who is now a eunuch. *dreamy eyes*

It's sort of explained in ID with *sigh I hate their names* Wicked and Truth. They were warriors and their line went crazy and went against the motto of the Assassin's Guild (no death without payment) so Wicked and Truth killed their master and fountain of blood. Somehow they survived, but evidently most can't. I guess the answer is if LKH were to reach down deep and find a big enough set of balls to off a character than any sired vamps would die.
