Archon Report Day 1

Hi Folks -

Taking a moment from the Archon festivities to report that I have seen what seems to be our "darling Laurita" in a black mini-skirt (that seemed to be too short - as in bend over & show the moooooon), black tank top, carrying a small basket and has Entourage pushing Jonboi around in a wheelchair.

*boggles*  Since when did his knee get so bad that he had to be in a wheelchair?

I just remember reading about "how bad" his knee was, not the specifics of what he did (and, now that he's facing surgery because he buggered it up so badly...  makes me wonder if the Krav Maga instructors just laughed them out of the class for not being in shape enough to even remotely begin?)

Have not attended her panels yet - I lost my sneaky partner in crime due to family medical issues, so I have not found someone to ask the questions that I can't ask because I can't be sweet & innocent enough.  *laugh*  (I'm too much of a sarcastic p.i.t.a.  - I admit it!)

Okay, time to go check out the dance and the room parties...  con seems quiet so far.  (Gee, it's going to be after the mularky they pulled in 2007 w/ NASFiC - the World Con Wannabe!  :-p)

Isn't there a rule about women of a certain age not wearing mini-skirts? At least ones that show the moon?

It might be a good thing that Jon's in a wheelchair. Considering the amount of stupid running in circles he seems to do on a daily basis, it's probably better not to aggravate it.

I've been in his place with my ankles - didn't strictly need to use the chair or a scooter, but spending a full day on my crutches (I'm on crutches permanently) was invariably a No Good Very Bad Idea.

Been there, done that whole "screw up ankle on vacation" routine. I ended up in a wheelchair being pushed around the parks in Orlando, because I couldn't walk any distance.

Unfortunately, the layout of this con is such that it's not handicap friendly if you are trying to go from the Gateway Center over to what was the Holiday Inn. (long story there - go look up the Archon LJ com for that hotel nightmare... :p) The hotel is literally on top of a plateau while the con center sits down below it. There is no wheelchair access up the hill - you have to go around or drive around.

Knowing this, and knowing how Laurell doesn't socialize w/ any of the con fen outside of her scheduled panels, I am wondering why the bloody hell he even bothered to come along this weekend? Granted, the con is picking up their hotel tab over at the Holiday Inn, or er, pardon me, "Hotel Collinsville," but if he's so incapable of moving around freely why bother to come?

It's not like it's a hidden fact that the convention, spread out like it is, is wheelchair friendly between the two location. *boggles*

Here's a thought....leave Jon at home. It boggles my mind what a hanger-on he is! I know, I know, he's an "author" now that he helped adapt her work into comic books. But he's got a bum wheel and he STILL has to have a parade of serfs shoving him around the whole time?!

And GROSS on the miniskirt...I'd pay cash to see Tim Gunn go through LKH's closet and lecture her on appropriate clothing. "Don't defend the leather dress to me!"

I stayed out until after 12, saw one fight start, and talked a while w/ Selina Rosen, one of the pros for a time (I'm going to have to write a comparison between the two, because Selina gave me all a great story about her & LKH on a panel together last night. *g*) who was like the only pro to come out and hang out w/ us crazy fen folk.

Selina Rosen immediately latched on to me & started proclaiming me as her Beer Wench (even though I wasn't serving or touching alcohol last night. *laugh*)

Yes she is. :) I finally sat in on one of her readings Saturday & just laughed myself silly.

If you see her at a con, ask her about the Beer Wench. It's what she dubbed me at Midsouth Con.

I will do a full write up for the con when I get home tonight, if I'm awake enough to do so... ;) Laurell's reading was torturous and her whole "Oh, I'd like to see Anita one day learn to control the Arduer..." comment cracked me up. :p

No stockings tonight or yesterday when I saw her.

Sat. morning she was wearing black jeans & a blue shirt, Sat night it was a black dress w/ black spike heels w/ the ankle strap. (I did like the shoes & wished I could wear heels & not be in agonizing pain as soon as I put them on. :p)
