In my opinion it would still be odd of Anita to do these things. I mean, she held on to a very strong belief that sex was important and meaningful for six whole books, and even then didn't always feel comfortable having sex until after book 9 (Narcissus). The whole ardeur (I'm probably spelling that wrong) thing was such a personality twist because it's like it not only unhinged her sex drive, but her morals as well. It changed who she fundamentally was as a character.
I completely appreciate your point, though. The books would read a lot easier if sex scenes cut away more often.
