Okay, we all know that awhile back the LKH books were recovered in colorful body parts, usually looking like somebody's in the process of getting some. Apparently with the advent of the torture-porn covers, some of the older books are ALSO getting re-covered -- not rereleased, just a quiet addition of a new cover. (Not all the books so far, but a month ago only ONE book had been re-covered...)

I hate those! At least the colorful body part CoTD cover had a snake on it!

Okay the first 'tool' covers were okay...I didn't know that Skin Trade had two saws.

But these two....look badly Photoshopped, I mean REALLY badly maybe if they used a slightly more substancial font or changed the color than Teal on Laughing Corpse, you almost lose the title under the wolverine claws on the Circus cover.

Ew

Those are claws? I thought they were nails. Claws would make much more sense.

. . . It looks like they're trying to mimic the posters for the "SAW" movies.

...which is wierd since the AB Books have almost nothing in common with the SAW films.

Maybe LKH is sick of being viewed as a 'Romance' Author and thinks the horror covers will break that POV?

I don't think authors generally get any input into book covers, and besides, I get the impressions LKH would prefer the technicolor-porn parts covers.

I have to find the blog...but didn't LKH say she had input on the cover for Blood Noir...maybe Skin Trade? Waxing on about knowing about layout and such?

I find it hard to believe that they paid somebody for those covers...ech

This makes me miss the campy horror covers the first PB editions had.

While I miss the original AB covers, these would probably mislead me into thinking the series had some forensic element to it, and then I'd be really mad when I realized what it was.

Still, clearly they've heard the voice of the "I want to read this on the train, but I don't want everyone to know I'm reading sex/erotica/porn" crowd and have gone for stealth covers.

I think Pith nailed it. Lots of folks read a erotica, but not a lot want others to know they read erotica. These covers make it look like these are horror novels, which they are not.

True, but remember the old PB cover for LC? It was a nightscape with the Arch in the foreground. No one would know what you were reading.

I fail to see the relationship that icehooks have to the story for the Laughing Corpse.

Well, you see it's because...um...the, uh thing with the...and...corpses, and um...

Look over there what in the world is that?!

*and thus did logic run far, far away*

Re-branding the series for the movie, imo. Trying to attract young males to the series or at least fool them into buying a few books before they realize it's chick porn.

And tying this into LKH's statement that her work has a large male audience . . . my God. The nickel drops.

Strange, I don't recall Wolverine ever appearing in the series.
