Nice, but crazy (not a necessarily odd combination for an author). And lacking a group of dedicated friends who will a)proof read and b)stop her when her plots go past the point of wtf-ness.

Good people skills are a good sign, though. I'm pretty sure I'd probably like Laurell in person as would (most likely) a lot of people on the community. But I'd like it better if she said "You know what, even professionals have a coach and even professionals still work on the fundamentals and improving their craft. I should try that." Then she would go get herself a professional or very good proof-reader/editor, start outlining/storyboarding/planning her novels so she could see when she needed to concentrate on a plot and when she could insert a sex scene, create some character sheets and run her typing through a word processor.

And maybe she could then take way more pride in her writing and in herself for acomplishing it and we could all cheer and disband the community and go to her book signing to say "Way to go, chica." But maybe she'll be cranky from all the extra effort so she'll growl and huff at us and then we can reform the community to say "OMG, she's CRANKY." But really, isn't it nicer to have someone say "God, she needs Prozac" than to say "God, and she gets paid to write that?" You can blame the crankiness on a bad day or low blood sugar, but a bad book is forever.

*breathe* sorry, rant got away from me.
