It was a fabulous weekend with our poly foursome. Thanks for all the Happy Valentine's Day wishes! Jon and I are just glad to be home. Our plane had mechanical issues and left the ground 45 minutes late, then there was a bit of wind/weather issues, but we landed safe and sound, and really that's all that counts. Now dinner done, and we've heard all about Trinity's weekend with her father, plus a lot of Little Pony discussion. I had no idea that My Little Ponies were actually deities that made the moon and sun rise and set, plus the ponies are in charge of the seasons, and love. Who knew?

Wait, was Trinity telling her about MLP? I know the new MLP is popular with some older folks (I watched the first two seasons with one of my roomies in college, it is really cute) but IME they're usually people in the 20+ range, whereas teenagers are still trying to get *away* from anything that could be considered childish.

Maybe LKH has just realized how flipping huge they've gotten among nerd guys and is trying to amp her cred with that crowd, like when she drops Star Wars and comic book references (that often show she hasn't seen/read what she's talking about at all)

1) I watch MLP with my 8-year-old and enjoy it immensely, but I've always liked animation in general as long as it's not flat-out stupid. I'm enough of a geek to enjoy the worldbuilding, which has had far more thought devoted to than you usually get in a kids' cartoon.

2) Bets on this being referenced in a future book? Because something that's been out for four years now is juuuuuuust about the right vintage for Our Lady of the Nike Swoosh Shoes.

3) She's noticed that the ponies all have ground-sweeping hair in a wide range of colors. 'Nuff said.

The bronies documentary is streaming on Netflix, I just watched it last week, maybe LKH did too and is pretending Trinity is all up into the ponies. Or maybe Trinity is all up into the ponies.

In any case I would love to see pony-were deities in the next Anita Blake (and by 'see' I mean I still won't read it but I will read flogs about it).

On the Nightvale theme, at least when Cecil is cooing over Carlos (lovely Carlos) he uses different adjectives and usually keeps it short. It really puts the "Jon, my husband, Jon" and the endless descriptions of Micah and Nathainel's perfect toenails to shame.
