My sad attempt at a selfie at last night's event in Skokie, IL. Thanks to Fabrice Calmels I now know there's a timer & app for this. I so needs one.

Why does she always go for the super high vantage shot? You want a selfie with your books? Arm's length roughly straight on, so people can actually see the covers, maybe? I feel like this shot is just asking for a close-up of her chin and/or nostrils.

Makes you look slimmer/reduces chins and wrinkles. It is the Old Woman selfie, ask me how I know. Mind you my phone doesn't have a front camera so it's really moot.

I've never heard it called an Old Woman selfie, but I have heard it called the "Fat Girl Angle Shot" a lot for the same reasons (note: Not trying to say anything about LKH or her appearance here, just that's honestly what it's called in my experience, no matter who does it)

I'm a fat girl, but trust you don't need to have your camera mounted on an in orbit satellite to take a 'slimming' photo if that is the desire. These extreme angle selfies are not so much slimming as strange.

I guess I can see that, making one look slimmer and less wrinkled. It still strikes me as a more extreme angle than necessary. (But then, I am not a person who takes selfies.)

I call it that, because of being old.

I've heard it called a MySpace selfie due to how often teenagers would do the high-angle shot to look cute, back when MySpace was still relevant. I tend to stick with that because it expresses the same level of snortworthiness (as in "seriously, are we on MySpace now?") without pre-judging anyone's age or weight just with the phrase alone.

I hadn't heard of that one, but you're right, it's better. Thanks, going with that one from now on!

This selfie shows the books well and occludes her face (while it's still clear that she is actually there). The one at http://lkh-lashouts.livejournal.com/628507.html shows her face well and occludes the book.

I'd say that makes this one a success and that one a failure, but LKH might have different priorities from me.

How cute. She's got a pic of her taking a pic of herself.

I'm getting so bored with this monotonously endless stream of what's basically the same damned photo that I can't even find anything to mock. Except I kind of just did.

As long as these fans are giving out selfie tips, can one of them please tell her to lower her arm a little? These extreme overhead shots makes it looks like they were taken by drones.
