My first signing in England will be August 7, at Forbidden Planet in London from 1700-1900. See you all there!

London, here I come

I will also be appearing at Nine Worlds on August 8 in London.

Saturday 8 August.
  • 15.00- 16.00 – Kaaffeklatch

  • 17.00-18.15 – “The dead will rise again” (Resurgence of Gothic Literature)

  • 18.30 – 19.30 – Book signing

  • 20:30-21.45 – “The F-Word in Fantasy” (Sex in Fantasy)
So for all you fans that have been asking, “When will you do a signing in Europe?” These events are for you, so come out and see me, because I’m finally here and I don’t know when I’ll be back.

Damn, that's some thick passive-aggression there.

But we have to remember that flying is so traumatic that she's being the bravest little toaster by getting to London in the first place.

The rest of the UK and continental Europe is apparently one step too far.

I'm just sad that I'll be missing her by about six weeks. I could have gone undercover to report back to the comm.

Alas, I shall be attending Cheeseweed's first birthday extravaganza and unable to go undercover myself.

Yes, what's a 4-hour flight from, say, Athens to London to see LKH? I don't think she'd ever say "to all my fans in the U.S., I'm in San Francisco, so now's your chance to see me." She truly does seem to think "Europe" is a very small and homogeneous place.

Ugh. She embarrasses other Americans by association enough on the internet; in person, I can only imagine it's worse.

I made the comparison on Amazon to her thinking that having an appearance in Atlanta would be making herself available to her Northeast fans, but apparently your comparison is more accurate. She's as bad at geography as she is at "boiligy".

England is not in Europe. Ridiculous woman.

I wonder how long she will be there and how many quaint English things she will experience and add to her next novel?

I was quite tempted to go to this but a) I have to start looking around my father's home and sorting out his belongings and b) I cannot guarantee that I wouldn't start screaming 'YOU FUCKING SUCK' and having to be escorted out by security.

btw... what is this 15.00- 16.00 – Kaaffeklatch thing? Is that something British? American?

I'm not 100% positive what a real Kaaffeklatch is, but the single convention I go to every year has a few of them. If I go by that, they seem to be informal question and answers with an author (or other person of honor) in the morning hours over coffee and pastries. I think it's a bit more British than American, but I can be wrong.

A 'real' Kaffeeklatsch is a meeting of women of equal status in society to gossip in the afternoon and have coffe and cake. Goes back to the bourgeoisie in the 18th century.

Well, I learned something new. I always thought it meant "coffee and pastries".

I always thought it was some kind of American German thing.

It does not exist in my land, which attempted to be Little England for a very long time.

Hm, really interesting to look at these kinds of developments... how customs, social significance and entire meanings shift...

... that might be used to explain the glaring differences between 'real' animal and therian behaviour, but only if they retain their ... hm... human fail (?) when shifted...

Hm... *ponders*

It's German originally and American English adopted/stole it. Traditionally, women would get together in the afternoon and gossip and eat pastries and drink coffee- that's where the name comes from. Kaffee= coffee, klatsch=gossip.

Just wanted to say I just found out my editor is going/went to see LKH. She (my editor) was asking advice on how to do her nails in an Anita Blake theme for the meeting. I totally forgot she lived in England, and had not idea she'd be interested in meeting LKH. Learn something new.
