I just can't do this blog post. Other ones I've managed to plow through, but this one beat me.

First with the "Perfectionism" thing. God, woman, you're professional writer - you should know what words mean. "Perfectionism" is the desire to be perfect, and is entirely doable; "perfection" is unattainable. And whether or not she actually takes her own advice, it'll end badly - if she does, then she won't bother trying to fix any of her writing; but if she doesn't, then she has a "convenient" excuse to not turn in her book on time.

And then there's the "research" thing. No, Hamilton, clearly you don't do research. Or at least you're incredibly lazy about it. You had to go all the way to Ireland to learn that their gun laws aren't like those in the US? Do you not know what Wikipedia is? Or Google? This is basic stuff that you should know, given how much gun-porn is in your books. And when your editors/publishers said you do "more research than most nonfiction writers" I'm absolutely certain they meant "you waste more time on 'research' than most nonfiction writers." Evidently you missed the sarcasm. Because those nonfiction writers get that done before they start writing, so they don't have to stop half-way through to correct their mistakes.

So you win this one, Laurell. You threw up a wall of such immense bullshit I can't wade through it. Congratulations.
