You know how I say don't do research until you've got a draft done, there is one exception. If you do not have enough information to intelligently plot a sequence.

Just had a problem with that one part. Other then the fact that the sentence structure makes me wanna scream, her lack of research makes me wanna scream more.

Okay, having a good idea of what you want to do is a great thing, it helps with the research, but damn it, do the freaking research before you do any actual writing! It'll make your writing suck a lot less.

Or maybe that's just me...

There is also the point that if you ended doing research after the first draft you can find out that what you've done does not fit with the parameters of your world, or it just could never happen no matter what reality you're working with. One would think this would be a fairly valid concern given how closely Anita worlds is related to this one.

Oh well you can always explain it away with sexual power.

You know what would be nifty?
If she didn't write anything for a week because she was so caught up in reading - both the old books and texts on tigers and whatever else she wants to include in the new books. Hell, let's make it two weeks and she can whinge about it being writer's/researcher's block.
Can you imagine what the next book would be like if she actually took the time to plot it out properly and do the research that meant she didn't need to contradict herself, to introduce each character as if they are new and to sound like she doesn't know what she is talking about?
...
Me neither, but it would be nice.

What made me want to scream...

But if you don't do research until you've got a draft done, you may have to rewrite that entire draft if not scrap your entire plot!

GOD, this woman sucks at Earth Logic.

All to be done again tomorrow
Six pages today. Though I may end up throwing it all out. It will at least get pushed further into the book. The six pages have nothing to do with Edward. So I'll put the six pages later, if needed, and just do what I'd planned on doing which was calling Edward. The pages dragged today because the front of my head was trying to force the back of my head to shut up and be reasonable. I should know better. The back of my head was right. I've done some research now, and the technology that I'd planned will take hours and hours, not an hour. You know how I say don't do research until you've got a draft done, there is one exception. If you do not have enough information to intelligently plot a sequence. Which was my fate today. But I was determined to bull my way through. So, I have six pages that will probably never get used, and get to jump back to where I began the day and start again tomorrow. My subconscious wanted to just jump to Edward, but nooo, I just wouldn't have it. We had to go in order no matter how much I wanted to just go to Edward. Yet another reminder in my life that just because something is fun and is exactly what you want to do, it doesn't make it the wrong thing to do.
