Floggity flog, flog, flog, flog....

(If this has been done, I'll happily delete it, but I don't recall anyone flogging this one.)
Her, italics. Me, pain.

Oooh, it's a...word! *is shocked*
I did a blog, because of miscommunication you don't get it today, maybe tomorrow.
Wtf?
I've been editing THE HARLEQUIN. I've got about two hundred pages read and sticky noted. The manuscript is about 690 pages, but that has nothing to do with how many pages the actual book will be. Depending on type face used it can be bigger than that in print, or half that size. So when I tell you guys how big a book is in manuscript, it tells you only how much info, or story is in the book, not printed page count.
We aren't stupid. We know that a final page count from you is going to be much different and (universe willing) much higher than what the publisher kicks out. Really.
The book reads well, I'm happy with it so far, which is pretty good since I haven't quite recovered from writing it. I got past one of the scenes today that I did so many versions of that I honestly didn't remember which version I kept.
We don't even want to know after having a look at that prime example of a run-on sentence.
It was interesting to read the final cut, so to speak. That's it for me today. Good night, folks.
It's a final brain puke for you, but it's not actually a final cut. A final cut would be a finished, polished, publishable product.
Oh wait. I forgot. It's her world. If she says it's a final cut, then I guess that's what it is and everyone else be damned.

Date: 2006-11-22 12:39 am (UTC)Argh, no wonder things do not make sense, I mean you can't just not know what version of scenes you kept and just write on ...
well yeah she can, but it explains a lot
you know I take more care with fanfic ... before I start writing the next chapter I read the ones I already finished (and as an extra - the reviews and feedback I got on the chapter - from readers and my beta )

Date: 2006-11-22 12:41 am (UTC)Good point you've made. There are fanfic writers out there with more 'professionalism' in their little fingernails than what she has.

Date: 2006-11-22 01:13 am (UTC)maybe some kidsbooks, maybe a teen experience novel or two,
I have a lot of ideas
-sadly I write in English, but I am not a native speaker, so the chances to sell are slim, and I hate writing long stories in German, the language isn't fit for books I think

Date: 2006-11-22 01:15 am (UTC)You see? There's nothing wrong with you wanting to write in English, because you aren't the only one doing it!

Date: 2006-11-22 01:22 am (UTC)it just won't be easy to get anything published, as native speakers will always have the upper hand with the writing style (as long as they are not called LKH who doesn't bother with unimportant things like that ) ...
