Goddamn it, she's back.
Dec. 4th, 2006 11:55 pmURL: http://blog.laurellkhamilton.org/2006/12/hey-guys-we-got-power.html
We're back online, powered up, juiced; pick your term.
*raises hand* I'll take things I never want to hear from LKH again, bob.
There were so many things I thought of to blog while the power was out. Some sad, some angry, some positive, but the power was out, so nothing could be done.
....As opposed to.. You know. Getting due without power, researching, writing, reading, quality time with your poor spawn..
We went out to a local book store and did some editing on the current comic script which is like due tomorrow for changes, or something close to that.
Wait,
WHAT.
She is editing the comic script?
Ok. First off. She doesn't even edit her own books.
Second off. W-W-...Wouldn't that be kinda like stealing it from the people who actually know how to write comics? What does her editing look like? "_INSERT PEN0R HERE_" "_NEEDS MOAR BICEPS_" "DONT FORGET THE PEEENIS!"?
Why do I have a feeling this 'editing' is directly related to the DongWank?
I have to admit that for the first time I missed my e-mail and my on-line comics in a major way. I was reading the comics in the summer when we lost power for five days, but I wasn't doing e-mail.
I was still having Jon or Darla print out stuff.
Also known as Lackie #1 and Lackie #2 since she can't.. You know.. Print stuff.
I have now graduated to reading on screen.
Congratulations.
Something I thought I would never do.
I know, right? It's like. So weird. You're accomplished! I wish we could all be as brave as you.
The woman's ego never ceases to amaze me. What got me is that she's editing the script for the comic. What in the flying fuck? Is she calling those people morons, like they don't know how to do their own job? Christ, woman!

Date: 2006-12-05 12:28 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'd put money on my second grader being able to do way more with a computer than her, and he's my youngest. I know the other two would just up my betting odds with betting on that.
She's such a...never mind. I'll behave myself and keep my mouth shut this morning.

Date: 2006-12-05 03:25 pm (UTC)I still say all her 'Research' is done in those 'In-A-Minute' books.
Oh no, no need to behave yourself =3 Thats no fun!

Date: 2006-12-05 02:39 pm (UTC)R IZ AMUSED, simply for the whole, "ZOMG, THE POWER IS OFF AND IIIII KANT TYPE!!!!11!!"
Um, for realz, Laurell? You mean to say that for all your fear of tech, you don't have a typewriter? Like, a manual one??? Because, y'know, it's just like a computer, only without solitaire and spellcheck - but since we know one of those things is useless to you...uh...
...not to mention, did the thought ever occure to pick up a pen and put it to paper as your literary forebears have done for hundreds of years? No? What about getting a stylus and scratching words into wax? Chalk and slate? Chisel? FINGERPAINT???
Really, if the Marquis de Sade can decorate his bedclothes with wine coloured prose, Laurell - you have no excuse not to write anything down.
NO, WAIT, that requires some kind of initiative, something that our heroine clearly lacks in her daily life.
All work and no play make Laurell a dull

Date: 2006-12-05 03:27 pm (UTC)Or a pen and paper. Hell! Her kid's crayolas on coloring book pages! I once got this.. Brilliant bout of ideas in a train ride without my handy dandy notebook and made due with eyeliner and my arm. S.
If she really wanted to? She could have. But that would have sucked the fun from whining about it

Who knows, maybe she'll be struck by inspiration.
. . . Or a snowplow.
Whatever. Either one works for me.

Date: 2006-12-06 12:19 am (UTC)Laptop + Wireless connection ANYWHERE = email.
Laurell really IS about positive feelings! I feel better already, because there's no DAMNED WAY I'll ever be as technologically backwards as her.
That's IT! I'm calling them the mouth-breathers from now on. Or the LEADDITES. Snerk.

Date: 2006-12-06 12:41 am (UTC)Because IT IS!!! I tell you this is Laurell's way of letting everyone know that although there was a nasty little ratdong setback that threw her off her game, Laurell is BACK IN CHARGE! 'Adaptation script'? Yeah right.
'Don't worry, my little fandrones! I'll edit what those bad bad comics writers are trying to pass off as genuine Anita Blake, so keep on buying!'
Add in bad spelling and punctuation however you deem necessary.
But after the rat dong fiasco, I'm quite sure someone from Marvel was on the phone to that damned fool telling her she was shooting herself in the FOOT.

Date: 2006-12-06 10:04 am (UTC)And she can write 1000+ pages of bad smut, but can't figure out a printer. Amazing, isn't it?
