LKH in bold.

I'm not sure the television show, Desperate Housewives, is bad for us, in fact it's won a lot of awards.

I don't watch the show, so I can't speak for or against it, but… awards do not equal excellence. All an award means is that a certain sector—i.e., the people who determine who gets a certain award—liked something.

Then again, I don't think the AB or MG series have won many awards, so maybe I should let her logic stand. *eg*

I think it's just the title that makes it feel like a guilty indulgence.

Coming from the woman with such fabulous offerings as A Lick of Frost, A Caress of Twilight, Narcissus in Chains, Incubus Dreams, "A Lust of Cupids", "A Scarcity of Lake Monsters" (big WTF there), et al.? I think the list speaks for itself, really.

I'm not quite sure what Laurell is saying in that first sentence. I keep accidently pausing where the commas are and it's making me super confused. :/ Oi.

Apparently she was babbling something about shortbread cookies being bad for you, and she compared it to Desperate Housewives, and she said that wasn't bad for you.

....Or something like that. Reading the blog entry makes a little more sense. It's a lot less wanky than the usual offering, so that's a plus. I guess.

Awards mean nothing. Neither, if you ask me, does the "National Bestseller!" on the cover or whatever. I'd be hard pressed to find a book of mine that didn't have that on there, or some such thing ("National Bestselling Author", "New York Times Bestseller," etc.) I bought a book a few years ago that said "New York Times Bestseller" on it, thought, oh, it must be pretty good then.

IT WAS AWFUL. Never trusted such statements again.

It was "Micah" you bought, wasn't it.
Go on, admit it.

Snow? Falling outside the house?

Oh Laurell, what will they think of next?

The dogs came in all damp. Pip's black fur glittering as the snow melted.

Writing in sentence fragments is a way of life for her, isn't it?

As a poem, it's not actually bad.

The dogs came in all damp.
Pip's black fur glittering as the snow melted.
It's supposed to be three to six inches.
If it's six,
Then we'll stay home tomorrow.
If it's less,
We have plans with friends we haven't seen in awhile.
Though, if it's a choice between ice and snow,
I'll take the snow.

*snaps fingers beatnik style*

LKH doesn't leave the house for less than six inches, is what I took from this blog.

6 inches

I get unexpected poetry within a few short lines but you get?

Ah, push it - push it good
Ah, push it - push it real good

Anita wouldn't even leave the bed for less than nine inches, width or girth. We all know it's size, size, size, right?

That's it! LKH is really a beatnik trying to write in a prose style. ... about porn.

Strangely, when you arrange it like that, I think the poem is actually better than some of the submissions we got for our journal at school. Heh.

I moved on from poetry to prose, so maybe that's why I can see it to break it up accordingly. Not that other folk can't. Still what if, yeah? It'd explain why she's into 'tight wet wet'. Alliteration.

I don't watch Desperate Housewives - I have tried and I couldn't sit through an episode. I don't mind catching the end of one, but then I get thoroughly annoyed that the show runs overtime by 20mins and all I wanted to do was watch Criminal Minds afterward. (I'm the same way with Grey's Anatomy - CANNOT STAND THE SHOW).

It's just not my thing.

Yet, it wounds me to know that DH gets bunches of awards and Deadwood was cancelled.

All I can say is PHILISTINES!!! they'd better well not cancel Rome after its second season. If it is, someone's going to be stabnationed like Caesar.

They announced this is the final season for Rome. Woe is us. It is apparently far too expensive to produce... I am all for the stabnation.

But to the plus side, they are bringing out a Southern Vampire series this fall (called, for no reason I can fathom 'True Blood'), and they have signed a contract to make A Song of Ice and Fire, one season per book with the author as one of the exec producers and writing one episode... Which means, unless it's Sopranos-big we'll get to see all of Books 1 and 2. *is still sulking over the Rome announcement.

I'd forgotten about the snythetic blood! I've been pondering that title for days. Heh. I guess I need to reread a couple of the books or something.

Although having esoteric random names is possibly not a good sign...? I figured they'd just name it "Bon Temps" or "Southern Vampire" or "Hot Supernatural Guys"

Oh, but they ARE getting rid of Sopranos. Again. Sopranos is up for it's last little hurrah of 13 episodes or something like that... But still, Emmy nods and awards/acclaim/awesomeness aside, Rome is getting booted. B*stards.

I will miss Pullo. Sob.

At least they haven't signed up for a season of Anita Blake...

Rome! OMG I have to wait six months for the new series in the UK, and I can't wait. I loved that to bits, especially Atia :D

Amen on the overtime into Criminal Minds. I love that show. Or, rather, I love Special Agent Derek Morgan.

My grandparents love Desperate Housewives. And while I had no interest in the show -before- I found this tidbit out, I have even less since I've discovered it.

I find that Desperate Housewives is a depressing continuation on a theme - that no matter how intelligent, beautiful, successful, rich, whatever, you are, you can't be happy without a big strong man to make it all better for you.

Just like Sex in the City.

I can't stand it. I'd like one of them, just one of them, to say "You know what, f*ck it. I'm happier single, I'll just eat this cake, get a couple of cats, and spend my energy on improving my mind.".

Is "A Scarcity of Lake Monsters" all about tentacle sex? Because that would almost make it worth it.

Except that it would be bad tentacle sex. :(
