LKH and VDay

LKH has turned into a rather guilty pleasure for me. I used to rec her books to people looking for soft paranormal fantasy novels, now any rec comes with a caveat, but that's a familiar story here. Generally I don't find real life relating to LKH and Anita in such a way that I can't think of the event or thing without cracking up because of how I associate it with LKH. Such is the case with famous Eve Ensler play.

I went with a friend to the Vagina Monologues last night. When the skit "The Flood" was performed it was supposed to be terribly poignant and emotional because the poor woman just couldn't bear her vagina because it "flooded" the first time a boy kissed her. There was liquid everywhere and at that moment I just lost it because massive quantities of liquid spilling out brought to mind The Crotch of Doom^tm and the infamous Rain Maker scene. So I spent the entire monologue desperately trying not laugh. It got even worse when the dream sequence started because not only was the "flood" filling an entire restaurant, so that people where swimming in it, and the earth was moving. Now I am left to ponder, was this part of the inspiration for the rain maker?

We all know that LKH is all about the empowerment of women, and she loves to educate us, her humble readers, about the beauty and mystery of the woman's body and sex, especially "kinky" sex. So I can't help but wonder what brought about her dip into the idea of female ejaculation and Anita's subsequent gushing.

Well it's not as bad as tubgirl. My friend is really into them so imaging shaking with laughter which you're trying to supress while said friend thinks you've gone a bit mad. In between the choked ack ack noises all I managed to gasp out was "The Doom Crotch" which wasn't appriciated by the audience around me. *sigh* I think that's going to be the first and last time I see that play.

*grin* I didn't think ranting about the not LKH inspirational moments would be of interest here otherwise I could have ranted on for a good while.

As a public as a public pr0n show it's just was LKH would like for empowering women - after all she spends a lot of the books in raptured by how wet and tight the Doom Crotch is and how very flexible Anita's is.

Well, I'm guessing that the whole female ejaculation thing was brought on to emphasize that Anita is a) manly and b) a special sex goddess. If I remember correctly, the rain maker scene is from Incubus Dreams. I think by this book Anita has cemented herself as a hard core misogynist. I remember throughout what parts I read she could barely behave civilly around other women. Notice how LKH tends to associate feminine with worthless if its trait of the fair sex. Plus, if I'm not mistake the rain making scene is also the first in which she sleeps with Nathaniel, submissive, pearl and apron wearing, Nathaniel. Clearly, she has to be the man in situation so she orgasms like one. Of course, I think my theory would be stronger if Anita made rain all the time, but I think this is kind of what LKH was thinking. As for the reason of specialness, hey, this is an author/character who thinks having nethers one could dock a cruise ship in is the measure of greatness. Anita can ejaculate, not all women can ejaculate, so therefore Anita is great and everyone else sucks.

Aw, I enjoyed the Vagina Monologues. My mother works for a domestic violence non-profit, and they were putting it on for free at a local tavern with a stage. I left feeling empowered, but I'm weird like that. And it could have been just wanting to strangle the obnoxious guys at the bar.

This was before ID, though, so if I'd read it first, I may have looked at it differently.

I agree with you on the empowerment thing, but few people seem to really grasp the concept. It's like everyone thinks that for one sex to be empowered, it has to discredit the other. Neither sex is better, they're just different. Neither is inferior to the other. I just wish more men and women understood that.

And don't even get me started on the Bible. I've actually had guys say to me "hey, chicks can do whatever they want 'cause the Bible doesn't place the same explicit restrictions on them!" BULLSHIT.
