My dear Lashers,

LKH got her hands on some exotic animals.

LKH - emphasis. Me - pain

From here

We got to pet animals I'd never petted before. The charity was a wild animal rescue group, Safari’s Sanctuary, and they brought out their animals to let the guests see them. Reticulated and Burmese python, the first was a yellow albino; Fennec (small desert fox); albino baby raccoon; skunk both albino and regular; ring-tailed lemur (who helped with my audio podcast at Conestoga, you'll know what I mean when you hear it); alligator; and wolves. Yes, I said wolves...

... The reptiles had the least natural odor. I'm always wanting to know what animals smell like, for the writing, and I think writing the wereanimals has made me more aware of that oft neglected sense; smell...

...But, honestly, my favorite was the Fennec. With it's huge ears and delicate triangular face, it looked like some sort of fairy creature. It's fur was the softest of any of the other animals, silky. It also stood on the shoulders of it's handler. I mean I've heard of a shoulder cat, or a shoulder bird, but a shoulder fox was new.

I think we all know what happens now, don't we. Don't we.

Do you think she'll remember she already did a fox? Or are you more concerned with were-snake sex? And don't say Nagas, please. Because I don't want to have nightmares about how an inherited magical condition makes its way into the wereswirl that is her immune system.

One last LKH quote:
Wild animals are best left in the wild.

Then set Richard free woman!

Those of you who are friended on my journal, have already read this, but I figured I'd finish what I started and share with all. A brutal blow-by-blow synopsis of this trainwreck trying to pass for literature.

I read this crap so you don't have to... or something to that effect.

Though the punctuation of choice for abusing this novel seems to be the period.

She'll write a fragment. Then, finish the sentence as a separate fragment.

Hello! There's this thing called a semi-colon, it's the key under your right pinkie. Guess she misplaced her bag o' commas.

... and on to the brain rot ... )

I've noticed and I've seen that you guys have mentioned it a few times that there are some similairites between Hamilton and Anne Rice.  It is fairly obvious to even a mildly intelligent soul that Hamilton has borrowed quite a few of Rice's ideas or character types.

For example the plot device of sexual abuse, prostitution and control of a weaker vampire by a more powerful "Master" vampire. In Rice it's shown in Armand's bizaare and disturbing relationship with Marius (or was I the only one that found Marius and his "apprentices" disturbing and abusive in a variety of ways?) for one example.  Hamilton's use of sexual abuse or protititution is "gifted" to just about every character but Edward and Anita and we get the child vampire abuse of  Valentina/Armand and also the Stephen/Gregory pair as well.  We also have Damian and his Mistress which parallels the Marius/Armand relationship of weaker vampire under the control of the stronger Master Vampire.

There's also Belle Morte, the founder of our main line of vampires and one of the most powerful vampires around. I believe in some of the books it mentioned she kept control of her vampires in a variety of ways and can't quite believe Asher and JC don't want her anymore. This reflects Rice's Queen of Vampires who was the Mother of all vampires and was the most poweful vampire. I believe at one point she had alot of power over vampires too and had a similair plot arc in Queen of the Damned as Bell Morte does in recent books.

Also how can i forget the girl child Master Vampire in the first book who from memory looked very similair and had a personality similair to Claudia. Valentina had some similairites to Claudia as well, but i believe Rice was one of the first writers to do the child vampire with Armand, Claudia and that other boy of Armand's. Hamilton has recently added in child vampires with Valentina, the boy with her and Byron.  Finally, whether she admits it all of Hamilton's male vampires are gay or bisexual and so were Rice's.

Does anybody else find any other similairites or out right copies that I've missed or not agree with me here? Being that Rice came first it appears that Hamilton is the copycat.
