Lick of Frost, that is. I went to Books-A-Million and was one of those people who sat in a chair for two and a half hours. Eh, it was my day off.

The good news is it's not nearly as bad as Mistral's Kiss, or ANY of the recent AB books. I can tell she was actually trying to give us more plot and less bad sex and horrible never-ending conversations. There was no deep-throating, and I don't even think anything "spilled". Merry's skin did swallow the moon again, but only once.

The bad news is... although she was trying... it still wasn't very good. But I think, without an editor or co-author or whatever it was her first husband did for her, this is as good as it gets. This is the best the poor woman is capable of, and it was pretty sucky.

I think maybe she just isn't that bright. (Well, and crazy to boot, but there's crazy like a fox, and then there's... that other kind. LKH's kind.) I actually sort of feel sorry for her. The things she thought were "clever" political moves make me cringe just thinking about them....

Does anyone think she'll ever accept editing again?

A little question here. We all know that AB is slowly and painfully descending into the realms of frankly unreadable and it doesn’t really look like there’s much hope for it. But if you suddenly had control of the series by magic and wrote the next book, where would you take it? Or wouldn’t you take it anywhere because there’s no point?

Really I just want to see what you would do to try and revive the series. For some reason I'd love to see Jean-Claude back in a villainous role- it'd make him interesting again and I've always thought he's a bit of a dick anyway. I'm guessing that getting rid of the ardeur’s high on everyone’s To Do lists (and getting rid of Anita's “to do” list too), but other than that what would you change/make happen/completely abandon?
