Darla decided to join in the "Re: Author tells fans to go away" thread on Amazon. I've left my response, which is the same as I would say to any other member on that board. She doesn't get special treatment just because she's Laurita's minion personal assistant. I felt the need to suggest that she consider not using Jon as an editor. Was I overstepping my bounds?

"Some people got the point, others did not.
Laurell has never objected to critisism. But there is simply no way to please everyone. What one person likes, another hates. So critisism is relevant mostly to the person making it!

The original blog was in response to emails from people who said they found the sex or violence outside their comfort zone. Or that they liked static characters who did not change much from book to book. Or those that seemed to believe that they could threaten or intimidate Laurell and other fans in to sharing their opinion. Sorry, the world does not work that way. Not everyone enjoys the same thing. The fact that a vocal minority seems to think they can force what they want is just wrong. We heard from lots of fans who wanted Laurell to speak up and say something to defend herself and them. So she did. And other people too offense.

Should we be bold enough to suggest you stop reading, if you weren't enjoying the books, then the complaints flew that we were telling folks what they could and could not read.

Book writing is a solitary practice. At least the way Laurell does it. She does not collaborate. Her books are not written by committee.

There is simply no way to satisfy everyone. Make everyone happy. So for those who are not happy, then all we can suggest is that you do find a writer who makes you happy. It doesn't mean your wrong to not like Merry or Anita. It just means it is not what you want to read. That is fine. If it is not for you, then it is not for you. But, at the same time, if it is not for you, you do not get to impose on, intimidate or harrass other people who do not share your opinion.

Why is that so hard for some folks to get?"

I don't know. Why is it so hard for Laurell to write a book with plot?

Ya'know, I think your wish just might be granted. But I wanna call attention to something. I really think LKH's sells figures are in trouble and she and her people are stirring up this stew deliberately to get people talking about her book. Maybe get some people who never heard of her to buy the book and see what has evil net trolls stalking this poor woman (yeah right) or something. I say this because have you noticed all Team Laurita's recent wanks coincide with something to do with promoting Harlequin? The infamous negative reader rant ended with LKH dropping some major details about the plot-or-some-vague-facsimile-thereof and her we go with Darla throwing new gasoline on an already heated thread that just so happens to be on one of the internet's largest book dealers/reader forums just days after the paperback of DM gives the world a first look at Laurell's new monstrosity. Dare I hope the book stores are preordering less after a five year string of crappy novels?

Yeah...it is PAINFULLY obvious that Laurell and Darla are trying to stir the shit deliberately in an attempt to bolster her flagging sales. Laurell will be painted as a "victim" because the "mean, jealous haters" are stalking her and trying to tear her down, and they hurt her pwecious feewings.

And yeah, I've noticed her wank-outs definitely coincide with the book release. She's trying to create drama to attract attention. No publicity is bad publicity n' all that.

And I think it's getting to the point where the sales are getting bad enough that Laurell's happy little bubble of denial will go POP! and she'll have to face harsh reality.

And I'll bet Darla WILL retaliate with her own version of the "Dear Negative Reader" rant, because I can see it coming from a mile away. She decides to flame the negative posters, and then flee back to her board, and play the wounded victim, and of course the squeeing fangirls will rush in and support "brave, wonderful Darla for standing up to those mean-spirited bitches."

*gags in disgust*

And yeah, I think that the bookstores just might be ordering less. They're finally coming to their senses, I think.

In the meantime, we'll all get to sit back and watch MPE flounder. ;)
