I searched through the recent past entries and I can't find where someone made a suggestion of alternate authors to lkh. But not long ago, someone mentioned Carrie Vaughn and I'd like to thank them. I just finished reading all three of her Kitty books and I really liked them. The first book annoyed me at in the beginning, as Kitty seemed so weak and her pack leaders were such jerks. But she really grew a backbone and the books really took off. The second and third books were far better than the first, and I'm really looking forward to the next one this winter.
So thank you, whoever it was, for a good author rec. I really appreciate it. And I concurr with this rec, read Carrie Vaughn's Kitty books ('Kitty and the Midnight Hour', 'Kitty goes to Washington' and 'Kitty takes a Holiday' - yes, all the titles remind of porn, but they're really not), I don't think you'll regret it.
