[identity profile] ayako.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] lkh_lashouts
This was brought up in a forum I participate in but I'll post it here.

What Anita looks like. Things we know:

- She's 5'3" (so not too tall)

- Has a size 5 waist

- DD size breasts (The reason why Anita always buys a size up...blah.. blah...etc...dispite her itty bitty waist)

- Only 110 pounds (Not the chubby kid in High school anymore)

- It was mentioned that her theighs rub together when she walks

Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture?

"...Dolly Parton in action"

(LMAO, I don't take credit for the horrifyingly apropos line above)

Isn't 110 pounds underweight even for the height of 5'3''... so how could her thighs rub together?

I think it mentioned she wore a size 7 in the first few books...which also doesn't fit with her then 106 pounds.

Doesn't to much match up.

No, it isn't underweight...I'm 5' 2" and about 100 lbs (at a size three), and while I'm thin, I'm not dangerously underweight. I figure round up 10 lbs and an inch (and add a LOT more chest), and you get Anita's (supposed) measurements).

She still doesn't get off light, though. There is no way that a woman with her proportions would be attractively Reubenesque with chafing thighs and so forth. Size five waist = TEENY hips (unless she's missing ribs a la Jayne Mansfield); even a seven would be fairly small compared to the average American female's size 14. Generally speaking, you don't get chafing thighs until you hit double digits (unless she has bone malformations or other leg problems that require corrective surgery).

.....Am suddenly picturing Anita as a female Torgo from Manos: The Hands of Fate. *amused*

I can see chafing thighs, if and only if she didn't run the way she states she does (at least twice in every book), cause I'm a size 6/7 and my thighs rub together slightly, and I'm (sad to say) in the higher range of the BMI index... while Anita's are around the lower end. Then again I can't run 4 miles every other day... especially with my well endowed self... so I don't know how Anita does it. I would like her secret. Maybe a really good sports bra?

Maybe if Laurell wouldn't say so many gorram different things...the world (by her book) is all askew.

Gasp. Something in LKH's world doesn't add up! Say it isn't so! *weeps*

Anyway, what drives me crazy about the 5'3" thing is that Anita is always going on about how short she is and how everyone thinks they can push her around cuz she's so short and has breasts, etc. I'm only about 2 inches (not even) taller than her, and I have yet to feel like the short nazis are after me. I wish Anita would just shut up about it for once, though not as much as I wish she's shut up about the ardeur.

I also believe that 5'4 is average height for a woman...

From: [identity profile] dwg.livejournal.com
The range (at according to the stats about 3 years ago) is 5'3" to 5'10"

Ah, then anyone who's ever told me I'm 'average height' has been rounding, I take it.

At 5'9", I always say I'm the tall side of average.

LMAO. I love your icon. I swear there used to be plot to the books...which is why I was addicted to them.

I know! But then it just... disappeared. And I still feel this silly compulsion to read the new ones. Fix me!

I believe they call it "Short person's syndrome."

Short, balding men are actually worse than Anita. But not by much.

I like making Napoleon jibes at Anita.

dude, I'm 110lbs, a size 5 (at a little under 5'0" albeit), and my thighs sure as hell don't rub together. I'm also considered "full figured" for my size being a 32C (trying finding a pretty bra in THAT size). now maybe if I was flabby... but I seriously doubt that, there's a notable gap between my thighs even standing with my legs "together"... considering I'm all muscle and over 3 inches shorter... eh she MUST be a pear! but that goes against the "shapely thighs" a la all her running mentioned in one of the earlier books.

Someone needs to by LKH a copy of Gray's Anatomy. Seriously.

The Laughing Corpse did mention that "I will never have attractive calves" because she's so damned short and all the running that she does. In the earlier books, she went out of her way to mention that she's got a nice top half, petite and all that, but the bottom half leaves much to be desired.

Course, all that changes because someone doesn't keep character notes.

pfft... being short doesn't have shit to do with attractive calves. you can be short and proportioned with long legs, just like you can be tall with proportionally long legs. it's all in understanding anatomy.

I'm 5'2" and an athlete, and I can say that I have short, muscular legs - they DO leave much to be desired. My calves look like a body builder's.

I'm undecided if a brunette Dolly Parton is better or worse than my totally distorted image of LKH I have been carrying with dread for years...

I once knew someone who was five nothing, 95 pounds, and had a DD. It actually worked. She was a perfect little miniature, if a bit too thin. As an aside, she had great legs. They were long for her height.

Muscular also does not necessarily look bad, unless you're a bit bow legged. *Giggles.*

As for the sizes she gives, she does also say that she gained weight at one point...hmm.

The thing about breasts is... on a woman who is 5'3', a DD looks *even bigger* than on a woman who is taller. Also, I find it hard to believe that a DD woman is going to be wearing all those tank tops and things Anita wears, since she's supposed to be a prude and DD plus tank top = hello nurse. Seriously.

A Situation to Consider

Another is one of my friends who had a size DD chest. I mean, this was a teenage girl, 5'4", 115 lb. But her chest was so HUGE that she had back problems and could never really participate in sports because her boobs went everywhere. DD for her was horrible, and for Anita I would think pretty much the same. Now don't get me wrong, I'm 5'3" and I only wear a B cup, but when my friend got breast reduction I could understand. Now she feels much, MUCH better about herself and her back doesn't hurt anymore.

what book does she say it's DD? wouldn't she fall over? i'm abot that size and a C cup. A DD would feckin' kill me! No wonder Anita spends so much time on her back.

I'd have no idea how I'd handle DD, I have enough troubles with a C, too. Any bigger, and I'd forget what my feet look like.

lol. It doesn't really state her size...just that she is well endowed...and I am well endowed (a 34D/34DD) and have problems. Like jogging for long spaces of time...not so comfy, and very painful.

According to the BM(Body Mass Index) (http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/calc-bmi.htm) Anita is a normal weight.

1. I used English, because I'm lame and don't comprehend metric.
2. It should be BMI, not BM.
