Yeah, I hate that too. Especially since she goes out of her way to mention how Whorenita wuvvies all her penii, and then makes it sound as unromantic as possible. It's really very telling, actually.
Maybe it's because "fucking" sounds more brutal and/or aggressive than "make love", "screw" or even the more clinical "have sex" or "copulate." Then again, maybe LKH is shooting for a more masculine style instead of the traditional romance terms. Or she thinks it will piss off the "right-wing Christians" who are obviously deeply threatened by her Anne-Rice-lite porn.
Which reminds me: does it seem out of place in some characters' speech? It seems appropriate for someone like Jason, but given how hard she works to make JC and the other male vampires more-ethereally-refined-than-thou in speech and manner, it seems weird that they'd be talking endlessly about "fucking this" or "fucking that." Technically it isn't inaccurate, since the word originated in the 1500s, but it doesn't fit...
