Hello all, very occasional commenter and long-time lurker here (I am a champion lurker. I can lurk like no one's business). Anyway, we've all seen the hideousness that is the Guilty Pleasures comic, and laughed accordingly. So I was quite excited yesterday when I got to work and found the Harry Dresden comic waiting for me. The art is good! Everyone is proportional! It is funny, as opposed to snicker-inducing!

The story: A hapless night watchmen has been torn apart at the Chicago zoo, and the prime suspect is Moe the gorilla. Except that makes no sense. So Murphy calls in Harry to investigate.

Needless to say, Harry discovers that Something Is Afoot, and it's not a berzerk gorilla. The series is a four-parter, so we'll have to stay tuned.

And finally, at the back of the book, was a preview for the adaptation of Dean Koontz's Frankenstein, illustrated by none other than Brett Booth, which is why the creature, despite being stitched together from dismembered corpses, is so very pretty.

Long, flowing hair? Check.

Freakishly rippling abs, displayed by open shirt/coat? Check.

Thighs like a Christmas goose? Check and check.

Uergh.

All of Brett Booth's men look like Philip. The man has a standard template that he doesn't bother to deviate from, unfortunately.

The saddest thing being that y'know, you can create a Frankensteincreaturish character who is good looking, but still damn creepy. Like Nobuhiro Watsuki's "Embalming" stories; the Frankenstein guy is good looking, but makes you want to hide and whimper.

But that Creature looks like he's just a big sulky teenager with a pout and "brooding" eyes.
