FELLOW LASHERS!

As the TV version of our favoritist herowhine appears to be going ahead - who do we all fancy for the various parts?

Pick whoever you like in the available acting community - U.S, British, Bollywood for all I care, just so long as they are still alive and kicking.

Once we've all had a say, perhaps the mighty [livejournal.com profile] pith will honor us with a poll, so we can vote and select a suitable cast.

To get the ball rolling, I think Adrien Brody would be an excellent Jean-Claude, and Yancy Butler as Anita. She was the lead in "Witchblade".

So - what do you all think?

Paul Bettany has been my only choice for Edward since the start. He played Geoffry Chaucer in A Knight's Tale.

I loved him as a psycho in Gangster No. 1, so I would agree.

Though I don't want anyone I like to be attached to an Anita Blake project. *g*

YES, he's exactly how I picture Edward!

Oooh, I don't know who should play Anita, BUT the same actress should also play Belle Morte, only with extra makeup, so it can be all deep and meaningful.

If LKH has anything to do with it, I don't want to nominate anyone who might be ruined by association.

However, if it is good, I think Eliza Dushku would make a formidable Anita. And since we're on the Buffy path, can we get James Marsters to play...huh. Dumbrowski, maybe? I don't know, I just miss him and want him back on the air regular-like.

The thought of Adrien as Jean-Claude hurts my heart. :/

I picture Rudolph Martin as Jean-Claude. (He was in the Buffy VS. Dracula episode.)

Rudolf Martin is ACE at dubious villainy!
He was Ari on NCIS and he was part of a murderous couple on CSI.

As much as it would hurt me to see him stoop to Jean-Claude's level I could see Vincent Cassel in the role.

*snerks hysterically* But how does he look with butt-length auburn hair?

Just a pair? For Micah, he'd need a whole pair of sweatpants.

And they could have a Hulk-esque sequence at one point where he gets an erection and, instead of tearing everything around some tiny purple pants, it tears the front of his jeans off and he walks around for the rest of the day with the pants legs bunched around his ankles.

...yeah, I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be allowed near a computer at 2:30 AM.

Really? Edward Norton is 6'. On the other hand, I think I would die if he was associated with this project. He's far too talented and not nearly enough of a pretty boy.

True. But, I'm pretty sure he's 6'. I know he's taller than Meatloaf, so Meatloaf had to wear platform shoes for that scene in Fight Club.

Personally, I think Edward Norton is incredibly attractive, but I'm pretty sure LKH would disagree. "He's not *beautiful* enough! And he's in that one movie where he doesn't have any hair at all! How am I supposed to be attracted to a man with no hair?"

Oh, and when you said that Edward is 5'8, I thought you meant Edward Norton. Sorry. Sort of confusing.

I thought most of LKH's male characters were on the short side, apart from the ones that are really tall.

Apparently Yancy will be playing a vampire in an upcoming Sci-Fi Channel movie. Close enough?

(Also, Witchblade squee! I'm still bitter over its demise, but at least it's finally on DVD....)

I know! Only had to wait what, 6 or 7 YEARS for it to come out, but I was so happy when I heard it finally was.

Ahh yes, let me join the ranks of those that are bitter over that show being cancelled to this day I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU TNT NEVER! NO MATTER HOW MANY NOT SHIT SHOWS YOU THROW AT ME.. *holds moment of silence* Oh well, the DVD's are out so I'm happy! ^_^

Not entirely TNT's fault. It's hard to keep a series going when the lead needs rehab. TNT has canceled some really cool shows, but doesn't quite have the Sci-Fi show kill quotient that FOX has.

On the upside there are talks of a Witchblade movie coming out next year.

From: [identity profile] vlredreign.livejournal.com
Please tell me you guys are kidding! There really isn't a chance of this being made into a series, is there???

Adrien Brody as Jean Claude? Ummm...no. Much as I hate to, Jean Claude is supposed to be pretty. Adrien Brody is a great actor, but he ain't pretty. Hell, I can't even think of anyone to play JC. I'm having a brain freeze.

ITA with Edward Norton as Edward, though.

Oh, I got one!!! Alexander Skarsgard as Asher. That's all I got.

I don't know enough about her abilities as an actress to make a judgment on that front, but looks-wise, what about America Ferrera as Anita? http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/imageBank/cache/a/America-Ferrera-HUB_e_78137be33a967c29f10c2b17980b3f17.jpg

Heh, I thought I was the only one who imagined Anita as looking like Yancy Butler (regardless of how LKH described her).

For Edward . . . anyone a fan of "Six Feet Under"? Remember the character Matt Gilardi from Season 1? The actor playing him is who I picture as Edward.

I can't think of anyone else, but Gerard Butler as Richard if he can pull off an American accent. He's certainly muscular enough.

Date: 2008-11-03 10:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] marumae.livejournal.com
Well I just saw him in Nim's Island and although his accent was partially slipping he's getting there!

I haven't seen that one.

Dude, I can see that. Though I have this image of The Rock going "what the hell is this character doing? He's a stupid, whiney prick!" At which point I dissolve into giggles. xD

From: [identity profile] pastygothchick.livejournal.com
"So, Anita, what do you think I should do about the whole Marcus situation?"

"Well, Richard-"

"It doesn't matter what you think! Know your role and shut your mouth!"

She'd probably blow his head off with her Firestar at that point.

Nah, he's too macho looking. They should hire a flat-chested girl to play Nathaniel.

Orlando is too macho for Nathaniel.

To be honest, I had Orlando Bloom down as JC!

When I first read an Anita book, I always visualised Michelle Rodriguez as Anita. Except they'd have to lock her in a cellar covered in sunblock for a year to make her *suparpale* enough.

Date: 2008-11-02 08:22 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] runetraverse.livejournal.com
And give her a lobotomy to convince her the role was a good one. I mean, she's been in bad films - see "The Breed" and "Bloodrayne" - but I think she might have more sense than that.

Date: 2008-11-02 08:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] suzycat.livejournal.com
Well, yes, but so would LOTS of these people.

The basic idea of Anita is cool. It's just the ardoieuioeaureirorire that made it get really dumb.

Jean Claude : Snoop Dog
Anita : Lil Kim
Micha : Biggie Smalls
Nathaniel : Lil Bow Wow
Edward : Ice T
Dolf : Wayne Grady
Asher : Kanye West

And yes, I am dead serious about my list.

I'd love for Kevin McKidd (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0571727/) to be Edward and Cote de Pablo (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1580243/) to be Anita. But both Kevin McKidd might get a finalization Grey's Anatomy apparently if he already hasn't *doesn't watch that show* and I don't think Cote will leave NCIS anytime soon (not that I want her too god no, I like that show) but these are the people I picture when I read the books.

Jason Statham as Edward (Edward was never described as pretty or having long hair)
Michelle Rodriguez as Anita
Richard Armitage as Richard
Olivier Martinez as JC
