Yes, I suspect you're grasping at straws so far as the actual books go. And the blog content, for that matter. All this really means is that anyone reading the blog on the website won't get quite as big a headache as they might have done before. ;)

I haven't worked out if I'm hallucinating it or not. It's 6:40am here, and I haven't had any sleep. It might be affecting my vision, and the layout is in fact white text on bright green...

Its not vile, but it still fails most usability tests. The contrast between the purple and black is not high enough - but at least she is using black and not say, dark purple. Or bright pink.

I find it disturbing that a grown woman has the blog-making capabilities of a 12 year old.

You must be using Firefox or some other non IE browser. When I saw it looking weird, I checked in IE, and there is actually looks decent. Not great, but decent.

Anyone with very basic HTML/Java abilities can cobble something together that'd look better than this in about five minutes; can't she afford that?

What makes it even worse is A: Jonboi's supposed to be oh-so-high-tech, and he should be able to do that for her, and B: isn't she using Blogger? WYSIYG for the blog crowd, yes? It's not that fucking hard to assemble a decent colour scheme with a few clicks. Hell, Live Journal here has templates you can choose, if you're lazy.

The best part of the improvement is the fact that the stupid "rings of a spiral notebook" thing isn't along side anymore. That alone merits applause. But still, I can't believe it took her this long to realize that super-bright turquoise is annoying and hard to read.
