No point actually flogging it, because... well, the new blog layout may well be boring, but it's considerably better than the old one, and actually *gasp* readable!

I hope she's joking about the pink, though. ¬_¬

It actually looks...like a real blog. *is confused*
Perhaps there is hope for the books? Or am I just grasping at straws?

...I'm going to say grasping.

Hmmm... I'm getting black text on a lavender background.

Its not vile, but it still fails most usability tests. The contrast between the purple and black is not high enough - but at least she is using black and not say, dark purple. Or bright pink.

I find it disturbing that a grown woman has the blog-making capabilities of a 12 year old.

And its a preset blog settings so its not like it takes mad skills - she is using Blogger, for gods sake!

I think one bit's clearly snarkable: the "oh, people told us the old colours were godawful, let us know if these are easier to read". What, that's not incredibly objectively self-evident?

My eyes have stopped burning, but unfortunately my brain still hates me for reading that blog.

ICON LOVE. <3 I have a Christmas icon of that scene that I suddenly can't wait to break out.

OH MY GOD, MY EYES AREN'T BURNING. I really hope it sticks and she doesn't get "contrary" and switches to retina-searing pink. O_o

The blog is her and Jon's child. Oh how romantic.

Well, except for the "11" colliding into the "November" and the lack of visible side-margin lines (I like visible side-margin lines), it's not half bad. She says there's still a chance she'll go back to the old one though...

You must be using Firefox or some other non IE browser. When I saw it looking weird, I checked in IE, and there is actually looks decent. Not great, but decent.

Ah, that would be why. *raises hand* Mac here.

Wait...isn't Jonboi supposed to be her little tech nut? You'd think he'd catch on that all us cool kids are using anything but IE...

This is better. Now if she could just alter the link color... red is not appropriate. O__O I'm being picky, I know.

It's so much nicer!!!

She still uses commas wrong, but the blog is readable without causing pain! Yay!

I feel the background is too dark of a purple for me still. But that might just be the screen.

I liked the old colours better. Purple bg with blue and red links is just awful. Simply terrible.

Sadly I don't see her sticking to this, just because there's nothing gawthe or edgy about it. And nothing annoyingly "contrary."

I do, however, see her eventually getting some too-busy background for it. Maybe something with bats and penises and skulls on a black background...

"the blog is my, and Jon’s baby."

So it's her... something, because clearly a word was left out before that comma. And what does this have to do with Jon's baby?

[/sarcasm]

And they'll all be animated. Picture it.

It's still one of the uglier blogs I've ever seen it doesn't look professional at all, but it is an improvement.

Anyone with very basic HTML/Java abilities can cobble something together that'd look better than this in about five minutes; can't she afford that?

What makes it even worse is A: Jonboi's supposed to be oh-so-high-tech, and he should be able to do that for her, and B: isn't she using Blogger? WYSIYG for the blog crowd, yes? It's not that fucking hard to assemble a decent colour scheme with a few clicks. Hell, Live Journal here has templates you can choose, if you're lazy.

The best part of the improvement is the fact that the stupid "rings of a spiral notebook" thing isn't along side anymore. That alone merits applause. But still, I can't believe it took her this long to realize that super-bright turquoise is annoying and hard to read.
