Is anyone else following LKH's new Twitter account? It's mostly been used for informing people that the blog's been updated. But then, there was this little gem:

"Sex scene kicking my butt. Anita with a new guy, always difficult. Words on paper to represent everything sex can be. Tough to do."

I read it and just about died. Another man? Really? Plus the idea of LKH 'representing everything sex can be' makes me laugh.

Scratch that, it's horrifying. What if the sex in the Anita books was everything sex could be? What a terrible world...

That was my exact thought when I read the Twitter. I know we all kid and type in huge numbers, but really, how many guys is she sleeping with? I mean, nicbemused is exactly right, it's the same every time, then the thoughts of not being a slut. I'm sorry, but usually my friends and I would label someone a slut (male or female) a slut if they're sleeping with more than one person at a time. Even if we didn't come right out and say slut (or whore, ho, etc), we darn well thought about it and talked a lot of trash behind their backs. I've just seriously had enough of new guys and the sex in general. Dammit, woman, I want *action*!

Not... exactly. There's a Rafael who is in the books. But whether it is the same Rafael or a terrifying podperson... that's up for debate.

You watch. A demon or half-demon will want to fuck Anita. They will have sex. The demon will then decide he's never been laid so good in his existence, and will immediately convert to the side of light and goodness and happy frolicking were-bunnies.

After that, the only thing left for Anita to seduce will be an angel. She'll do so, too.

I would not mind so much if these were not the main plots for roughly 40% of the paranormal romances in existence.

(Twenty-five percent of paranormal romances are about shapeshifters, 25% vampires, 25% demons, 15% angels and 10% miscellaneous. I proofread. Trust me on this.)

Oh, that made me giggle. It reminded me of something a girl told me about in class. Some little boy over in Germany or someplace like that blew up his bathroom by spraying air freshener and then lighting a match. He was trying to cover a smell and, well, didn't know that air freshener and a match together is a bad idea. She described how he was knocked out of the bathroom when it exploded (he's ok).

AHAHA, YES, I STALK THE TWITTER. I'm amused that that message came through just after pimping this interview (http://www.riverfronttimes.com/2008-11-19/news/mistress-of-horror-nobody-writes-vampire-novels-the-way-st-louis-laurell-k-hamilton-does-ndash-and-yes-there-s-lots-of-sex/1) that ends with: "But tomorrow morning she'll be back at her desk trying to steer Anita Blake through another series of adventures. "She's going to be hunting killers and trying not to sleep with anyone new," Hamilton promises. "She's tired and so am I."" Bold emphasis mine.

I love the sparkly language the reporter used in the interview to describe LKH. "Sparks from the fire illuminate her curly brown hair and glint off her reading glasses."

And, it's the bloody RFT, when the hell did the RFT change from being mostly a local tabloid and sleaze rag to being something with so much purple prose? (The RFT is not known for its high brow reporting in most cases. :-p)
