I was surfing Amazon just now and I saw that Skin Trade now has cover art posted.

Any idea why the ABVH books now use covers featuring implements of doom? Any idea what this cover might have to do with the story (such as it is)?

Absolutely nothing, they're just trying to get gullible people to buy who don't realise the books have turned into badly written porn and little else.

I saw this cover already, but yeah... I guess she's doing this to lure unsuspecting readers into thinking that her books are hard core and actually focus on serial killers/investigation of said serial killers.

The AB series is a lot like Saw though if you think about it.

LKH: Hello, Anita. I want to play a game. You must have sex with ten strangers before the pages of this book run out. If you don't, metaphysical energy will rush out and destroy you all.
Pre-warped Anita: NOOOOOO! But... I can't die.
*after sexing*
Post-warped Anita: LKH has shown me the way. I feel sexually liberated. I shall convert others, or my name isn't Amanda Anita.

But - but - I actually LIKE that cover!!! Why does it have to be on an AB book? Why?!?

To quote Peanut: "Polish a turd, it's still a turd."

She ran out of body parts her publishers would allow plastered on their books. She had a few more in mind, but they were worried that the “classy” bookstores wouldn’t stock them.

I am more worried about the title of the book and what it suggests about its content. Perhaps it's a commentary on how Anita shamelessly uses men as unwilling prostitutes. (Probably not.)

Or, master of subtltitty that LKH is, she's going to cheap fanfic cliche route and having Anita switch bodies! With a man! And then have lots of man-sex, and talk about how great man-sex is for twenty chapters, then spend the next chapter on how Anita has always felt masculine (BUT NOT GAY) but girls get to be pretty, which is awesome and sucks, and then something to vaguely tie that thought into the sort of feminism that is insulting to real feminists. Then more man-sex. Then possibly a scene in which Manita angsts about all the man-sex, because if she's a man, and is having sex with men, that makes her GAY, which is gross. But if she had sex with ladies she'd also be GAY, because she is a lady in spirit, even though she's actually felt like a man.

Actually, the more I write, the more I dig this idea. I hope that's where she takes it.

That's probably giving her too much credit. Considering that she was doing research in Vegas, it probably has to do with an underground sect of male vampire prostitutes in leather thongs, who'll die if they don't screw Anita to gain the power to defeat [insert bland villain who gets a little buildup at the beginning of the book and then isn't mentioned again until a brief sum-up of offscreen events in the last ten pages].

Definitely giving too much credit. All the titles seem to be random "sexy" stuff, so the most relevant shit that the book will contain is some sort of vampire/were slavery ring, and Anita freeing them by binding them to her with... guess what. And Bernardo will be injured and get turned into a were/vampire...

You should wrote a parody fanfic based on that idea. It's way more interesting than BN.

You think those tags are something (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/tags-on-product/0425222195/ref=tag_dpp_cust_edpp_sa)...

Hmmmmmmm... they resemble lopsided steampunk breasts? No, I got nuthin'.

Seriously, I guess they're trying to get people to go "Wow! This must be violent and creepy and horrific!" Well, it is but not in the same way. And I think they've run out of colors/body parts to use. The only thing left was a pair of puce buttocks.

And she's saving those puce buttocks for the next Merry cover...
