First the snark, then the challenge...
LKH's stuff in bold, my comments in not-so-bold.
I'm actually doing a novelette where Micah and Anita go out of town.
Oh. Ye. Gods. One wonders what the point would be. Is sex in St. Louis getting too stale for our fiesty (and slutty) heroine and her disgustingly well-endowed lap-dog? Since LKH's 600+ page novels only seem to have about 100 pages of actual plot, how much do you all want to bet that this won't bother to have any?
I need to know more about Micah
You mean she's actually going to try to give him a personality? And this after he's only been in three full-length books. *drips sarcasm* Once again: what's the point? Even the characters who did have actual personalities of their own have devolved into Anita's yes-men.
Micah only came on the scene in book ten, and by that time there was so much back story with the other guys, that sometimes I feel like he just hasn't had enough time on stage.
Oh, I think he most certainly has. And most of it involved freaky sex. Just kill him already! Sheesh!
I think part of the problem is that it's also a sex scene today, and those can be difficult.
How so? I'm sure she'll just copy and paste, as per usual. (And just for the record, I find it highly dubious that she has writing days that don't involve sex scenes.)
I always struggle to do literary sex justice. To make it as real as possible on paper.
*Harper is incapacitated by fits of convulsive laughter, rendering her incapable of comment.*
I'm their only voice to do a good job in bed, so there's always a little performance pressure to make sure that all the men get a fair chance to be great in bed.
There are so very many things wrong with this statement. First of all, why do they all have to be great in bed? Maybe someone's having an off day, or just isn't all that good. It happens. Secondly, this might not be quite so disturbing if the massive (and growing) cast of male characters were not limited to only having sex with Anita. I just have to say, my inner prude is very squicked right now.
I created a disc (or rather Jonathon did) of music to help me when writing Nathaniel scenes. Now I'm looking for one to help with Micah scenes.
Okay, here's the challenge. What do you all think would be suitable songs for Micah? I'm going to throw my two cents in and say "Slut Machine" by Monster Magnet and "I Hate Everything About You" by Three Days Grace.

Date: 2005-03-23 04:00 pm (UTC)I love the idea of detachable penis!
DWG always posts all the best song ideas. lol.
Phil Collins, "You can't hurry love" Would be more advice on why this isn't working for us. lol.
"Bimbo #5" By wierd Al Yankovic. Just sub it around from Clinton's POV to Anita's. It would work really well.
NIN-"I want to F*CK you like an animal."
Actually, I must give her some credit. She inspired me to write a really long rant about what NOT to do in a sex scene for my writing club. lol. When it finally goes up, if anyone's interested, I'll post a link.

Date: 2005-03-24 04:12 am (UTC)Yeah, that's Closer. I have the remix album of that track. Truly good stuff, plus massive squee on my part for finding the version that was used on the Se7en opening title sequence.
Post the romance/sex link. That was an amusing rant. It has sex-ninjas.

Date: 2005-03-24 04:33 am (UTC)LKH's writing is great as an example of how not to do so many things. And I have to admit, she does inspire me too. After a few chapters of her awful stuff I'm almost desperate to get back to the much less disturbing brain space my own characters occupy! *g*
