I feel over due for a rotation to something a little kinder, a little gentler.
NO, Laurell darling, we've had ENOUGH of the "gentler" side of things. We are now flesh-eating zombies who crave GORE and BLOOD and, let's not forget, THICKER THINGS - by which NONE OF US mean Micah's giant beef sword.

Date: 2006-05-02 11:32 am (UTC)Meanwhile, if that is the case I say, "WRITE SOMETHING DIFFERENT!" God I can't express how many times I have just wished she had ended the Anita series before it went downhill like this. Or even put it on a long hiatus until she was ready to come back to it. But no, she apparently can't lay Anita to rest, because Anita is her alter-ego. AKA she's too afraid to ditch her bestselling series to write something a little different. I wish she were brave enough to be a better writer. I really do. Because I used to love LKH and now...well, now I have resorted to waiting for friends to find free copies of her books for me, so I don't have to pay for them. And I don't even feel I am missing anything. Ugh ugh ugh!

Date: 2006-05-02 01:32 pm (UTC)I'd sugest we start a petition for the 'Anita and Edward go out of town to kill stuff' book, but we all know exactly how Hamilton deals with the discordant section of her fan base... She sticks her hands over her ears and starts humming along to whatever pseudo-goff music she thinks we'll all be impressed with this time round, while ignoring us and lapping up the sappy squeeing that others provide *headdesk*
I may have to go sulk now, the prospect of an Edward book had made me consider contemplating buying a Hamilton book for the first time in a long while *sigh*
Oh well, more money for yarn I suppose;)

Date: 2006-05-02 01:41 pm (UTC)And a friendly tip: I think the LJ links to RSS feed entries expire after a while, so it's safer to use the link that's actually given in the feed (it'll start with blog.laurellkhamilton.org). If you have time, could you edit that link in, please? Thanks!

Date: 2006-05-02 03:16 pm (UTC)2. Did you read the blog a while back where LKH said that she thought it was morally better to have sex with people than it was to kill them? If not, click here. (http://blog.laurellkhamilton.org/2006/02/screw-your-courage-to-sticking-point.html)
I know I bitched at the time in the whole, "if you don't like it, don't read it!" vein that if she was so fed up with writing about death, then stop writing about it. End the series and go on with something shiny and new and suited her idea of morality. Because the 'verses she writes in now are DARK. They have death, they have horrible things. They will happen and no matter how much she tries to sex them away, they will still be there.
Which is utterly contradictory to her interview/essay thing where she's going on about how OMG DARK AND SCARY her head reall is.
*headdesk*
I would like my spicy brains now, kplzthx.

Oh noes, she doesn't want to loose any of them! PROOF SHE KEEPS THESE FICTIONAL PEOPLE LOCKED UP so they actually CAN'T dictate a story.
I'm beginning to wish her characters really WERE as real to her as she thinks they are...they'd have put an end to this bullshit LONG AGO.
I know I bitched at the time in the whole, "if you don't like it, don't read it!" vein that if she was so fed up with writing about death, then stop writing about it.
See the problem with that is that thinking that way requires a certain ammount of COMMON SENSE, which LKH is totally lacking.
I would like my spicy brains now, kplzthx.
You know, the irony is I just set some ground beef mixed with pizza sauce in my slow-cooker, and while I was adding some other ingredients, I thought to myself "Hey, this looks like a bowl of bloody brains! Spicy brains for sandwiches!!!" And then not ten minutes later I see your comment and must LOL for a bit.
EVERYBODY LOVES SPICY BRAINS!!!
