Disclaimer: I've had a long, stressful day, so if my tone gets snide, I apologize. I also apologize for the lack of coherence, because I don't really know where to start.
There are days when I don't even recognize this community anymore. So many new names I don't know. At one point, I pretty much knew everyone here. I still remember the convos with
refche which spawned this place. And I have a confession to make: I never really thought this comm would last. I figured the novelty of snark would wear off after a while. I certainly never dreamed we'd get more than 50 members. Now we're around 250. Where the hell have I been?
So onward.
1. NO THREATS ALLOWED. They may sound cute and witty, but the reality is anything but. I'll snark the hell out of LKH, but threatening her, her family, her employees, etc. crosses the line.
2. I don't read all the comments. Once upon a time, when the comm was smaller, I did. I can't now. So if something wrong/Not Cool happens in comments to any post, please e-mail me at the gmail addy and give me all the relevant info (links, names, etc.).
3. Re: "The Spy". If you're talking about the person who requested that private messages not be posted here, she's not a spy. I saw the username and I know who she is. She puts up with a lot of shit, so lay off, please. She didn't insult the community; she made a simple request, one that is not unreasonable or unprecedented.
4. I don't want to put set length requirements on posts, but don't post oneliners, please. I'd say aim for at least 5 sentences—and decently long sentences too, not just three-word ones. Likewise, pleaes LJ-cut ALL longer posts (i.e., ones with more than 3 decent-sized paragraphs), whether they have spoilers or not.
5. Behave. Please. I know that's a dopey thing to say and someone will inevitably trot out "behave is relative/subjective/doesn't apply to me!", but please, use common sense. (Common sense, of course, being sadly uncommon these days.) I don't want to be an overbearing mod. But if I have to literally make this a moderated community where I have to approve each post—if that's what it takes to clean it up—I will. I'm really hoping it doesn't get to that point, though.
Comments, questions, and/or concerns can be sent to me, as always.

Date: 2006-07-14 01:30 am (UTC)(For the record, I never said that pith. Other people did. Saw that in a thread awhile back.)
And well, I promise to be good Pith. I'm very well behaved.
*salutes Pith*

Date: 2006-07-15 11:54 pm (UTC)In short, I don't hate her enough to ever want to physically hurt her. And well, I have pretty bad aim, as is. I can't throw very far. And if I were to throw her book at her, I would probably miss and hit some helpless fan waiting in line.
Although I may not actually do it myself Pith, but I don't know if I can speak for some other people here...*cough*

Date: 2006-07-14 09:34 am (UTC)Okay pith, I'm a bit unclear on this. Does this mean we never actually had a spy in the first place? Were we being paranoid? Or are we actually being watched? I have heard about the rumors that there ARE spys, what with the new journals popping up all of a sudden and joining this community. That is pretty suspicious, but I don't know for sure.

Date: 2006-07-15 09:33 pm (UTC)In te influx of new members, several seemed suspicious: new journals with no actual posts and the only comm they belonged to was ours. This led some people to think there were spies. Then forum information was being posted, leading to the request to not post PMs on the community. So people thought that posts from here were being relayed back to the forum and that there was "spying".
Like I said, I don't know for sure, so that's my interpretation. However, considering how many of the community's posts are public, I think it's pretty silly to say we have "spies". We've never banned people who are still pro-LKH, so it stands to reason that some people from the official forum might be here.
