LKH's Bullet began with promise. A contract on Jean-Claude, Anita and Richard. An attempt on Richard's life. And then the plot slid into a meandering mire. The last third of the novel bored me.

I was turning pages, thinking, "Yeah, so Anita had sex with this one, then that one, then this one." Yawn. It felt stale.

The fantasy world LKH created holds attraction. The imagination can play with its concept. Jean-Claude teases private fantasy. But Anita is increasingly annoying.

Imagine living with Anita Blake.

But I do have a katana.

It's better than that. The strippers are teachers at this school. Apparently in St. Louis the only professional dancers are strippers. It was a very odd kind of recital, they started with the youngest age groups, like 2 or 3 year olds up to seniors in high school and the strippers. Also, all of Jean-Claude's group comes dressed up as if they were either going to a nightclub or the opera. The women are wearing evening gowns with bugle beads.
