Amazon has a cover for Hit List posted now.

Hit List

It seems that the experiment in "scary sharp implements on a grainy colored background" covers is over. We've moved back into softcore porn imagery, but the oh-so-grungy splotchy-colors motif remains. As someone in the Amazon discussion thread said, this actually looks kind of generic...or like a Dan Brown or Stephen King novel. Lashers, what do you think?

Tangentially, I wonder what year that quote from Charlaine Harris was made in, or if she were being sarcastic at the time.

Charlaine Harris, at least on her personal message board, has always maintained the persona of being supportive of all other writers and genuine about her comments. And humble. So, I'll go with the idea that she meant what she said.

But I think your question about when or which book she said it about is valid.

Covers like this support the fact that more people will read romance novels on Kindles, Nooks, etc, because the actual covers of the physical books are far too embarrassing to be seen with in public.

Seriously, NOTHING about this cover says "supernatural" or "paranormal" or anything even remotely close to "Vampire Hunter".

From a quick google, looks like she said it about Flirt (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000360643)

I think it's a chair? It took me a while to figure out ohhh she's bent over something. On first glance, I thought her arm was horribly deformed.

OT, but does anyone know why we don't get blogflogs anymore?

The model's skin looks off.

We do have blogflogs, but only when she's talking about writing/the books. The last few blogs have been about her family/personal life, therefore unposted.

I was thinking it was a problem with contrast. Being surrounded by all that drunk-piss yellow would make anyone's skin look sallow as hell. I think it would have looked better if they omitted the woman and just made it the cover a dude staring into the distance. It would have been generic but at least it wouldn't have clashed completely.

They also could have just made stuck with the woman's picture and added some more soft-core erotica crap in the background. As it stands, it looks like whoever designed this was trying to attract the romance-supernatural erotica readers and people who read suspense. It can be done, but this cover just failed at it.

That's good then. A strange part of me was worried something had happened to her since I've grown use to her shatter over the last few years.

I wonder if that means she's taking a break from her career. If I recall correctly, she was having problems renewing her writing contracts last month.

She's tweeted that she's taking February off from writing (also, she's sick right now), so I'm going to guess that things will be quiet for a little while.

I've seen worse covers, but.... awkward pose for that model. NOt particularly alluring.

On a side note, my mother was on a romantic weekend with my dad for Valentine's Day, and she went to an outlet mall (her idea of romantic, I suppose), and texted me from the bookstore, asking if I wanted her to buy me Swallowing Darkness, because I liked LKH, right? After I laughed for about five minutes straight I told her that the series was essentially about sex and she probably recognized the name from me complaining about LKH.

The quote on the book is identical, word for word as on the website.....

Stephen King has way better covers than this. :/

I just don't even know what to say about this cover. It's... interesting. I guess. lol

Pretty much my POV, it's an okay cover for a trashy smut novel...but not a paranormal series about a vamp hunter.

I also this this cover is far more accurate than the past covers have been

I also noted that she was blogging allot LESS during the writing of Hit List than previous books, but ALLOT more time Tweeting and Facebooking.

This is pretty much the only reasonable explanation I can get for this cover. It is just a trainwreck of too many elements smooshed together.

I'm just saying, I've never seen a single author mentioned in this community that you didn't feel was terrible.

This cover's a total trainwreck. On the other hand, it's probably an accurate representation of the contents of the book.
