Because it's a theme this week:

"Destroy your personal demons, use their corpses as fuel to light your way."

I am growing increasingly annoyed by the term "personal demons," though it never bothered me before.

Me too. Possibly because it's accompanied by sanctimonious advice that is not useful. 'Be more positive!' - which is the gist of all her dodgy self-help advice - is one of the worst and most aggravating pieces of advice to get if you have 'personal demons'.

It bothers me because it feels like a rip-off of Pablo Wapsi's "personal demons" -- in his cosmology every being-with-consciousness has a set of personal demons that can fuck with you, but can't themselves cause harm to another person.

It's the kind of series LKH would dig -- short, busty, Latina-descent BAMF who likes non-girly things but is generally v. femme in appearance -- but it's WAY awesome.

Because saying 'personal problems/issues' is for the weak! She doesn't have 'issues' she has demons! With claws that tear at her psyche and fangs that rip her soul to shreds and so forth and so on...

SHE IS SO DARK AND TUFF

LIKE MY GOD SHE IS A DEMON SLAYER BECAUSE SHE GETS TO LIVE HER DREAM LIFE

Same here. I think, for me anyway, it's because she presents them as this external thing. Sher personifies an issue someone is struggling with to the point that it isn't about the individual understanding why they engage in unhealthy behavior (I'm thinking of other common things called 'personal demons' like alcoholism) or why they struggle with something from their past, and then working to change their thinking and their behaviors in order to deal with those effects. No, it's this demon that is attacking you personally, and you need to fight it.

Determination to overcome is one thing, but this aggressive need to battle something that is, despite not being good for you, a part of who you are, just rubs me the wrong way.

Plus she keeps talking like you can destroy your personal demons, and then they're just gone. That's not how it works.

That makes this post the weirdest metaphor for hot flashes I've seen.

Menopause does not make people go on narcissistic sprees. Besides, LKH has always been like this.

Maybe she's having a midlife crisis and trying to get up to Anne Rice levels of wankery?

She's always been pretentious, but quoting HERSELF is new. Maybe she's in training to spout off about her Dickensian principles. I mean, seriously.

"Who the FUCK quotes themselves?"

I know plenty of women who have been, have seen them go through it, and have talked to them about it. It does not make women into LKH. That's like saying if a woman's grouchy, she must have PMS.

Isn't it convenient that this stuff always pops up when she has a manuscript due? Even if it's real, I think it's still self-inflicted. She puts herself in situations where she has to work far too much and sleep far too little. Of course she feels like shit and gets sick and has emotional crises and etc.

I am loving all the quotes she's doing. It makes me snorkle and look around all shifty eyes in glee. I would love if she attached a copyright symbol! In fact that would raise my glee to hand rubbing levels the likes of which haven't been seen since Mr. Burns on the Simpsons.

I have no idea why, but it amuses me.

Y'know, I don't mind someone envisioning themselves as a demonslayer battling their internal issues. Whatever gets you up and at them. I've pictured anxiety as a little gremlin that chews at the inside of my ribs so I can picture throwing it across the room.

But, uh, if you're going to battle demons, battle them. Or... wait. WAIT. LKH thinks battle = sex or leads to sex or whatever. No wonder whenever she has a problem she writes pr0n.

Also this metaphor is broke as hell.

She wants to be a tweet by a writer quote tweet thing she's been retweeting. That account only tweets quotes by giants like King ang Gelman.
