Target showing first hits for new guns. Jon may have won me to .45 ACP at long last.

At first I see absolutely nothing wankworthy

And then I remember this is her professional FB, not personal, right?

Right now, with all the gun violence going on in the nation and the growing controversy over concealed carry (and the open carry people bringing assault rifles into Target and other locations), I...just feel sick looking at this. I know Laurell's not a danger to anyone. I know there's nothing wrong with practicing with firearms recreationally, or being fascinated by the various types of firearms, their design, their history. But right now, just in context...this leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I may be in the minority, though. There's really no reason to make an association between one author being harmlessly twee about how badass she is and the complete clusterfuck we're going through as a nation. Maybe I'm just more sensitive because where I live--Chicago--over a hundred people have been shot in the past week, 15 or more of them dead. So I'm twitchy.

Urgh. For me, this post is simply: Americans and Guns. It fills me with so much rage. I just....can't even....process LKH....Damn it, why is she always trying to be a badass.

If she's going to do gun crap, fine. People have a right in the US, right? to own guns and safe practice and whatnot. But considering all the gun violence shit the US has been going through since FOREVER, it just feels like poor form. Especially on a professional page. Keep it to your private blog, Laurita.

Sometimes I think she should've been a police officer, or an army officer, considering her gunlust. But then I realise that it might not end so well for her. That'd be a book I would read: Laurita in a real police force.

I hate guns a lot but I could sort-of see this being of professional value if Anita still had anything to do with guns; the early books did seem to have quite a lot of discussion of weaponry.

However, Anita's entire life seems to revolve around shagging various semi-humans these days, not guns, and then there's always the Merry series which doesn't really seem to have been particularly weapony at any time, so Merry fans can reasonably be expected to have no interest in LKH and her husband, Jon, shooting targets.

Given a Merry novel has just come out, I'd expect more posts about hair dye and ways to braid your ankle-length tresses.

For all anyone knows, 5000 shots might have been fired - and that's what hit the target. It hardly demonstrates competence, let alone skill.
