Target showing first hits for new guns. Jon may have won me to .45 ACP at long last.

I agree. Guns always make me feel gross. This isn't the wild west anymore, civilians don't need them and I don't get the fascination at all.

I don't either. Then again, I'm paranoid about guns. I had a gun shoved in my face in a public area in broad daylight several years ago, with a guy calling me a fucking faggot and threatening to shoot me for my laptop bag, and right now I live in a gangbanger neighborhood where that innocent schoolkid standing on the corner might just have a gun in his backpack. So I always assume my response is my own extreme aversion due to these things, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who just...feels ick about them.

As a first hand witness to a family whose recently decided to learn to shoot and handle firearms, I can understand it, they are cool they come in so many ranges sizes and types and it's interesting to see how one kind handles over another. However my father decided rather than going for the big mean guns, went for the antique replicas and is getting involved with Cowboy Trick Shooting/Reinacting instead. I haven't seen him this excited about a hobby in a decade.

But he never tries to carry them where they are not needed, all guns are kept locked up and the ammo locked in a separate location in the house, and is as disgusted with the rare few who are making the sensible gun owners look bad.

And the wild west wouldn't have been the wild west if not for 1) guns and 2) the attempted genocide of Native Americans, which fueled gun culture.

I hate guns. I grew up among people who hunted; one of them was killed with a gun while hunting at 13 years old. People who kill people with guns might (might) attack others anyway, but they would not be able to injure nearly as many people if they didn't have guns, let alone kill them. Guns are far deadlier than fists or knives. It's strange to me how so many people in the U.S. like to pretend technology doesn't matter when it comes to firearms.
