LKH has said there is a limited amount of books she's going to write for Whorenita and apperantly she has a direction of some sort that it's supposed to going in. Honestly, I can't fathom what this might be considering there hasn't been any kind of plot direction since NiC other than her Pokemon-esque "Gotta Have'Em All!" mentality when it comes to preturnatural lovers.

"Jean Claude, I choose you! INFO DUMP ATTACK!"
"Ma Petite! Ma Petite!"

*cough* Er, sorry.

Anyway, what do you think is the ultimate fate of the Whorenita series? To settle down in the Circus with her harem of men? To surpass vampires as top of the food chain as her own species of Uber Supernatural? To rule the world through the Love of Crotch? To take over the position of the MOAD?

Eh, all of the above I'm sure...because anything less wouldn't be rediculous great enough.

I thought there was no limit to the Anita books... my understanding was there was an ending to the Merry books, but Anita didn't have one. So LKH would just keep writing until she hit a 'natural end' or somesuch. Or am I misremembering? Goodness knows I could be, I don't pay much attention anymore *and* it's finals season :)

LKH's has said (I can't find the blog) that she's glad she can still be writing Anita Blake books in twenty years if she wants to. So I don'think there is any ending in sight.

I have no idea where it is now, but back before reading TH I formulated an explanation of why the Council used to kill necromancers on sight - and lo and behold, I was right. That was creepy, mainly because the replies I got here at the time were all, "Hey, that makes sense! Therefore, it cannot be the actual reason."

I think the police involvement will either vanish without a trace or Dolph will go nuts and get her disbarred as a marshal (or whatever the word would be). Possibly Richard will actually get kicked out of the triumvirate so we can have four hundred pages of wangst while Anita struggles pointlessly over whether she can actually be with JC without a metaphysical compulsion. With the development at the end of TH we can rest assured the MOAD will vanish for a few books so the sexxing can recommence, but eventually Belle Morte, MOAD and all other haters!female characters will be defeated with the power of True Love, possibly involving speeches not at all reminiscent of Dumbledore circa Order of the Phoenix.

Yeah, once upon a time I believed that LKH actually had a plan, and that plan was: Anita was going to be an object lesson in WHY the Vampire Council has made it a practice to snuff necromancers in their metaphorical cribs.

The way I saw it, the Council had been so successful for so long at doing so that they failed to recognize the threat Anita presented until too late (with a little connivance from Jean Claude in hiding just how powerful she'd become for his own devious reasons, chief among them securing his own fiefdom and safety from the Council). The early signs of "Anita Sue" is dismissed as evidence of just this long-term plot. Yes, she was gaining powers at an alarming rate, but that was (I imagined) the POINT--Necromancers are as scary to vampires as vampires are to us mere mortals and for pretty much the same reasons.

Alas, I saw more in that ink blot than was actually there.

True. I only got as far as "the Council has it in for necromancers because they fear a truly kickass necromancer could wake up MOAD".

Not only is there no end in sight for Anita, Hamilton said she doesn't even plan on letting her hit 30 until she's in a walker.

Rocks fall. Everyone dies.

Seriously, I hope this is what happens.

Anita will have a big battle with teh Mother of all darkety and end up some sort of God or die. As LKH never kills her babies, I can't only see it heading the God route, where all worship her and they live happily ever after in Disneyland Porntown.

I predict that at one point or another LKH will have some sort of nervous breakdown/post-midlife crisis where she begins to realize that her books are trash. She will then either a) stop writing entirely or b) start writing better books under a pseudonym. Either way the Anita series will be left hanging with no sort of real conclusion.

Hey, I can hope, right?

Well, if we had a good writer, and not LKH...

Anita wakes up (cira before book 2), and realizes that she's really special because she had a vision of the future. And it was horrible. To take prevenitave measures, she kills JC for marking her. Life continues on for Anita, with a new mystery/murder or two, to solve every book, an occasional battle with vampires (in which she kicks ass, not screws it).

When she's around 40 (because she actually ages!), she realizes she's becoming too close to being like Edward, so she retires from vampire killing/solving murders, finds a nice normal human, settles down, pops out a kid or two, and lives the rest of her life happily ever after, with no crotch of doom, bad sex, over powered drama to ruin it. (Oh, and the afore mentioned visions of the future helps her keep track of her kids. That's it.) The End.

*sighs* Hey, a girl can dream, right?

No matter what LKH says she doesn't have a plan. The books are going one way, in her mind they are going another.

In LKH's mind Anita is a heroine. To me it's pretty clear Anita is a worse person than the 'villians' in this series.

I can't imagine that LKH's books will have the staying power to last decades.

The way the series is headed I see Anita becoming the diety of all.

Unless she turns it around......and I'll be 15 again.

I think she's going to make less and less money from the books, and will eventually have her contract with the publishers terminated. Leaving the series with no ending.

LKH will then be fed to the wolves at her local wolf rescue place, so that her life isn't a total waste.

And Trinity will get to have a happy existance without her mother bitching about her on the internet as if it's private.

I don't think that even having a contract terminated would stop her now. Her entire mental state seems to revolve around the fantasy life where all men fuck her or die, she's the scariest/smartest/most loving person ever, she's all powerful, and reality reshapes itself to fit her needs.

Even if it were terminated, I think she'd just whip up a new website full of Whorenita's new porn adventures, and probably exult that now she isn't restrained by ANYBODY.

I was thinking her technophobia would exclude her from publishing online ;)

I guess, that's what Darla and Jon are for :P

Hold on a seccie, I thought she said she'd be writing them till she died or something of the sort. Now there's a limited number and a "direction"? WTF?

Ah, she'll probably die of old age before they even get to MOAD. I might be wrong, since I predicted that Merry would never get pregnant (teh stretch marks! Teh horror!). Then again, she obviously is far more obsessed with Whorenita, and I doubt she could bear to give up her fantasy life.

And you probably guessed the ending -- all of the above. She may claim there's no pat happy ending for this series, but she could never stand to give her fantasy self anything but EVERYTHING.

In all honestly I think I'll just keep seeing Whorenita keep gaining ultimate super villain powers until *I'm* old in the grave.

Yeah but that's probably more from the trauma of reading these books.. replaying the horrible memories forever, than it is from her actually writing that long.

PLease, this series has no direction. I predict that Anita will just get stronger and more powerful and ditch all her human friends for the monsters since she is one herself.

What do I think is going to happen? Everything everyone else said.

What would I like to happen? Edward going on a massive harem assassination with Olaf and probably Asher (because my vision of Asher wants to kill Anita), killing anything not human that the Doomcrotch ever touched before slicing them to pieces and taking a nap on their barely recognizable as humanoid bodies. Then they'd all go on to take down the MOAD and therefore kill every vampire in existance--except Asher, he's too pretty to die so they'll have thought of something to keep him undead.
